FIVE MAJOR CANDIDATES DISQUALIFIED FOR THE 2020 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

The Electoral Commission of Ghana, Hon. Jean Mensah has  finally released the list of candidates who are qualified for the 2020 presidential election On Monday October 19, 2020.

For about 17 flag bearers were on the stage to contest and out of the 17 aspirants, 12 Candidates were qualified whilst the remaining 5 were disqualified.

Below are the candidates who are qualified as announced by the EC for the 2020 election.
1. Alfred Walker 
2. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo 
3. Christian Kwabena Andrews 
4. Bridgette Dzobegnuku 
5. John Dramani Mahama 
6. Akua Donkor 
7. Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings 8. Hassan Ayariga 
9. Ivor Greenstreet 
10. Henry Herbert Lartey 
11. Kofi Akpaloo 
12. David Apesera 

The five aspirants below were disqualified due to some issues attached to their file 

1. Kofi Koranteng 
2. Marricke Kofi Gane 
3. Akwasi Odike 
4. Kwesi Busumburu 
5. Agyenim Boateng.

According to the EC at the press briefing, persons or aspirants with criminal cases attached to their files will be handled responsibly.

MINISTER WARN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS AGAINST INCREASING OF FEES

The Minister of State in charge of Tertiary Education, Prof. Kwesi Yankah, has ordered the management of the various public universities not to increase school fees for the 2020/2021 academic year. Prof. Yankah made this clear when speaking to Citi News on the sidelines of the “Transforming Teacher Education and Learning Program” by the National Council for Education. "The recurrent increase in fees is worrying" He stated. He said, he was rather surprised and abhorred about the arbitrary increases which appear to be recurrent almost every year and hence, any increase in fees without parliamentary approval would be unlawful.
