JUST IN: OFFINSO COLLEGE OF EDUCATION HOLDS MATRICULATION FOR FRESH STUDENTS



The Offinso College of Education in the Ashanti Region has held matriculation ceremony for its fresh students admitted into the college to pursue various disciplines for the 2020/21 academic year.




The colorful ceremony was graced by the presence the College Council Chairman, Rt. Rev. Christopher Nyarko Andam, a representative of the University of Cape Coast, Mr. Kwadwo Adum-Atta, former Ashanti/Brong Ahafo coordinators of T-TEL, Mr. Daniel Alimo and Mr. Daniel Amofa, the matriculants and some past students.


Out of Five Thousand and Seventy One (5071) applicants, the College admitted Five Hundred and Thirty Eight (538) of them into four (4) programmes namely B.Ed Education, B.Ed Junior High School Education (R.M.E and Music), B.Ed Junior High School Education (English and Ghanaian Language) and B. Ed Junior High School Education (Geography and History).

Out of the number, Two Hundred and Ninety Six (296) were males whilst the remaining Two Hundred and Forty Two (242) were females.


Addressing the occasion, the Principal of the College, Very Rev. Joseph Nkyi Asamoah said the College at the moment has all its programmes fully accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC)and is affiliated to the University of Cape Coast.


He noted that the College has zero tolerance for any form of misconduct and does not hesitate to sanction any student that shows up gross disrespect.

Very Rev. Nkyi Asamoah further charged the matriculants to pay the necessary respect to authorities and the staff including teaching and non-teaching staff.

"I further employ you to show respect to one another especially to the staff, both teaching and non-teaching to make your life fruitful and productive"; he said.



The Principal again asked the matriculants to follow all the health protocols the College has put in place in order to protect themselves from Covid 19.


At the ceremony, the immediate past president of Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a former student of the College, Nana Dr. Appiagyei Dankawoso I presented a 55-inch television set to the students of the college. Two former Ashanti/Brong Ahafo coordinators of T-TEL were also awarded for their immense contribution to the College.
